Thức giả định là gì?

Sau các động từ và tính từ mang nghĩa yêu cầu, đề nghị, tầm quan trọng (suggest, recommend, request, require, insist; it is essential/important/vital that...), động từ trong mệnh đề that giữ nguyên NGUYÊN MẪU với mọi chủ ngữ — 'suggest that he BE on time', không phải 'is'. TOEIC kiểm tra đúng mẫu này.

Cấu trúc

Động từ + that + S + V₁

suggest / recommend / request / require / insist / propose + that + S + V₁

Tính từ + that + S + V₁

It is essential / important / vital / imperative + that + S + V₁

Phủ định

... that + S + NOT + V₁: 'requested that the fee not be charged'

Be giữ nguyên be

... that the report BE submitted | ... that she BE present

Khi nào dùng

    Yêu cầu, đề xuất trang trọng: Văn bản thương mại rất chuộng: 'The committee recommends that the policy be revised.'
  • •
    Quy định và yêu cầu: 'The regulation requires that every visitor sign in.' Không thêm -s kể cả với he/she/it.
  • •
    Nhận diện trong Part 5: Thấy suggest/require/essential + that...? Chỗ trống gần như chắc chắn là động từ nguyên mẫu hoặc 'be'.

Sau 'suggest that', động từ giữ nguyên mẫu — không thêm -s ngôi thứ ba.

It is essential that she is present at the signing.

It is essential that she be present at the signing.

'Essential that' kích hoạt giả định: dùng 'be', không dùng 'is'.

They required that he didn't share the draft.

They required that he not share the draft.

Phủ định của giả định là 'not + V₁' — không dùng trợ động từ do.
